Faith - The Chapel is a multigenerational Christian community made up of people from all walks of life. Our desire is to live for Christ in a spirit of love, passion and simplicity.
Family- We are a congregation that celebrates (not segregates) the family and who believes that the generations are to live out life in Christ together. Therefore, we all worship together, learn together, and grow together. We provide crying and nursing rooms, but we don’t have “Children’s Church” and youth groups. We actually think parents, grandparents, and family friends are the best teachers for our kids. We embrace every child as a blessing from God.
Friends- A true Christian community is built on relationships, first our relationship to Christ and then our relationship to each other. So, whether someone is single, newly wed, blessed with children, or celebrating their senior years, we believe there is a place for you in The Chapel family. Our prayer is that as we live out our faith together, that we will establish friendships that will last a lifetime.
What is nondenominational?
Pastor Richard Wurmbrand, after he was released from prison, declared that he was "A Christian" even though he was a Lutheran pastor. In prison he met men from all denominations and was touched by all of them. As a result, when people asked him what he "was" - meaning denomination - he would reply, "Christian."
I have had the joy of speaking in just about every Christian denomination under the sun and I have found them all to be refreshing and faulty. Most of them, over time had embraced the "letter" of their denomination and had somewhat forsaken the "spirit" of their founders.
The Chapel will welcome people from all walks of life and from any Christian denomination (Born again / Bible believing).
We are not Methodist, Baptist, Pentecostal, Charismatic, Presbyterian, Puritan, or Brethren. We are Christians. We believe in many of the same things - especially the core belief - as these people, but we do not adhere exclusively to the "letter" of any one denomination. The Bible is our guide, just as it was for the founders of these denominations at the beginning. We embrace the simple/ basic - not uneducated -truths of the Holy Scriptures and we live them out.
Because we do not adhere to any one set of denominational doctrinal statements, we cannot place ourselves, with clear conscious, under any ONE denomination. Thus, we are nondenominational. Though we are autonomous, we are not disconnected. Accountability and oversight is only as deep as the relationships that make up that oversight. No deep relationships = no honest accountability. We could be a part of a denomination and still have little or no actual accountability.
We are connected to MANY other denominational and nondenominational churches and pastors, and we, through sincere friendship, submit to them mutually in the fear of the Lord (we already do this). These same men, along with all the elders of the church - as the Holy Spirit provides - will be our oversight. God forbid there should ever be a problem with sin or heresy in the leadership, the body will have the freedom to contact these men if need be. A list of these men will be given to each member.
Tom Zurowski
The Chapel is a member of World Ministry Fellowship. Though The Chapel is officially under the covering of this worldwide ministry, we feel that in order for accountability and oversight to be real, it can only happen through close personal relationships. These personal relationships must be with men who love God and truth more than they love The Chapel. Tom Zurowski and the leadership of The Chapel have surrounded themselves with Men of God and not just "yes" men. This oversight council is made up of men from different denominations and a variety of backgrounds but one thing is for sure, they are all solid Christian leaders. We are blessed to have these men as a council of oversight and accountability for The Chapel At Somerset.
