At The Chapel we live out community by gathering for public worship on Sunday mornings, through "House Churches" that will meet weekly in homes throughout the city (still in progress), and through deeply committed friendship
Sunday Worship
100 Chapel Drive
Somerset, KY 42503
Our church meets together for worship at our worship center located off Thurman Road (North) near old 80.
We worship together on Sunday @ 10:00 a.m.
When We Gather
• We believe worship of God should be inspirational. Therefore, we give a great place to music in our worship.
• We believe the Bible contains the words of eternal life. We study God's word not just to fill our heads full of knowledge, but to discover how we ought to live as disciples of Jesus. We share God's word together because we want to live a life that is well pleasing to Him.
• We believe in the importance and sacredness of “The Lord’s Supper” or “Holy Communion,” therefore we share it regularly to remember our Lord Jesus.
• We believe that the “gifts” (1 Corinthians 12:7-11) of the Spirit can be practiced by followers of Jesus Christ who display the “fruit” of the Spirit (Galatians 5) and who are governed by “the law of love” (1 Corinthians 13), for the edification of the body (these gifts are to exercised in our meetings under the covering of the elders).
• We believe that the gift of “tongues” is for private use in a person’s prayer and worship life. “Tongues” are expressions declaring the glory of God and prayers and worship to God that our limited language cannot express (which can be while praying for someone at a meeting). We embrace “the spirit” of 1 Corinthians 14, which states, “But in the church I would rather speak five intelligible words to instruct others than ten thousand words in a tongue” but we do not “Forbid” speaking in tongues (private prayer or worship to God) in our meetings.
• Our services are not a time for spiritual show-and-tell, but a time to worship and honor our Lord.
• We believe children are a blessing, therefore we do not “send them away” during our services. We ask parents to be sensitive of others around them, but we do not want them to be paranoid every time their child makes a sound. If a child needs to go out of the service for a period of time, we provide a “crying room.” As soon as the child is quieted down, we would like them to return to the service. We suggest bringing coloring books or “quiet” toys to be used if necessary.
• We ask that parents keep a close eye on their children, so that they do not disrupt or break things or worse yet, hurt themselves. Service time is not a time for playing, but rather it is a time for worship and learning. It is a time to honor God and to encounter Him. This includes children.
